Gumdrop Cake

1 C butter
2C sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp ground clove
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1-1/2 C apple sauce
4 C flour
1 C white raisins
1 C chopped walnuts
2 lbs gum drops, cut in fourths (no white or black)

Cream butter and sugar, add baking soda, clove, nutmeg, salt, cinnamon and vanilla. Add eggs, applesauce and flour, mix well. Fold in gum drops, raisins and nuts. Line loaf pans with wax paper, pour mixture in to 3/4 full. Put a pan of water in the oven with the loaf pans and bake at 250′ for 2-2 1/2 hours.
